Near the New Mexico/Arizona border, I stopped at a cute roadside reststop, which offered some grass and shade as relief from the glaring sun. I couldn't resist hiking across a small ravine and onto the slick rock, though. No one was more surprised than I to catch a glimpse of Shiprock Peak, ghost-like in the distance!
